The 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships will be held in Vilajoyosa, Spain 🌐, October 10th through 12th. The ICF event listing is posted, and the ACA Ocean Racing Committee is waiting for the ICF to publish the first informational bulletin. Keep an eye on this page for updates as more information becomes available!
As a member of the ICF’s global network of 172 national federations, the ACA facilitates opportunities for paddlers to compete in high-caliber ocean racing events across the world via the USA Canoe Ocean Racing (COR) National Team.
The ICF COR World Championships are currently open-entry, and the ACA does not require a performance-based selection process to represent the USA at any continental or international ocean racing championship or cup series competition. The only criteria is to be listed in the Members category for the current National Series season.
Interested National Federation members must contact the ACA Ocean Racing committee regarding their intention to participate in a particular continental/international competition, and then complete the necessary requirements.
Regarding requirements, there are a number of administrative items participating athletes must complete prior to the competition. The ACA Ocean Racing Committee publishes a downloadable information packet describing the participation requirements and guidelines for every championship event. The ORC recommends working through these steps as early as possible to avoid last-minute administrative headaches. In addition please be sure to review the following official ICF competition bulletins, when they become available.
The ACA Ocean Racing Committee reserves the right to review and discuss a candidate’s qualifications prior to composing the ICF-required Attestation of Competency letter. Ocean racing athletes may be able to accelerate the ORC's review process by attending a National Series race and/or holding an Athlete Classification, and while most of the active USA ocean racing community checks these boxes they are not specifically required.
