USA Regional Championships are recognized by the American Canoe Association and aligned with USA Canoe Ocean Racing standards. These competitions serve as a developmental bridge for surfski paddlers looking to level-up from state-level competitions to national-level racing. Regionals are designed to bring together athletes within a multi-state geographic area to compete in challenging courses with stronger fields.
To ensure practical travel distances, equitable access, and consistent competitive opportunities across the country, regions are generally aligned to U.S. time zones, with a north/south split in each zone. This approach reflects real-world participation patterns while remaining flexible as the ACA's USA COR National Development Program continues to evolve. As participation grows, regional boundaries and championship formats may be refined in consultation with athletes, coaches, officials, organizers, and clubs.
The USA COR Atlantic North region currently includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
